Choose an information system (e.g., ERP systems, CRM systems, SCM Systems, Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Executive Information Systems, Enterprise Portals, Data Warehouse & Data Mining Applications, Enterprise Collaboration Systems, Knowledge Management Systems, and so on) that you have studied in this unit. Alternatively, you may wish to combine features of several systems.
Your assignment should describe the steps of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) discussed in Topic 4 of the subject. The proposed system must address an identifiable problem/opportunity that exists in the sponsor organisation and relate to particular aspects of the organisation's overall strategic directions. It is important that you select the features of your system carefully and justify your selection. Do not just use (be critical of the use of) the standard features of a commercially available software package. For the purposes of this assignment, try to keep the system that you are proposing to a manageable size.

The ERP is an integrated computer-based system which is used for the management of the internal and the external resources which comprise of the tangible assets, financial resources, materials and human resources. The main purpose of the ERP software is that it allows smooth flow of information between the different business functions within the boundaries of the organisation and also successfully manages the connections with the outside stakeholders. The ERP system is generally built on the centralised database, and it generally uses the common computing platform. The ERP system successfully integrates all the business operations into a uniform enterprise-wide system environment. This is the proposal for the implementation of the ERP system at the ALDI, Australia.
The proposal will provide the different benefits that will be attained by the company after the implementation of the ERP system and will provide a cost-benefit analysis and the feasibility study for the implementation of the ERP system in the organisation. The proposal will provide an analysis and the specifications of the proposed system and will also give a detailed description of the implementation of the system by adopting the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) approach. Finally, the post-implementation activities along with the discussion on the project management, risk management and the change management which are related to the implementation of the proposed ERP system are provided.
1. Organisation Background
ALDI is a supermarket chain with a global discount which has more than 10,000 stores in about 18 countries, and the company has an estimated turnover of about €50 billion (Aldi.com.au, 2017). The company headquarters are Germany. The company first opened its stores in Australia in the year 2001, and since then the company has been continuously expanding in the country. ALDI has played a significant role in improving the livelihood of the local Australian businessmen and the local farmers. By 2011 there are 280 stores of ALDi in Australia, and there are plans to open more stores. The main mission of the company is to provide 'incredibly high quality at impossibly low prices'(Aldi.com.au, 2017). There are various ways in which the ALDI is helping the Australian economy. It is providing more opportunities to the Australian farmer, which reduces the stress of the competition. The company has adopted a very simplified process which makes with the company very easy and effective, and this allows the local suppliers to give more time in their own businesses. Also, the high volume of orders and consistent orders provide income security to many small suppliers. Also, the future expansion plans of the company in the western and southern Australia will be beneficial for the local businesses.
