This assignment is about CRITICAL  SELF REFLECTION  during placement experience . It’s reflection of self awareness n how a person is developing as a social worker , what skills of social work he is learning during his placement.

Journal 1

I was placed on the profile of social worker in an organisation as I always had a dream to work and satisfy the needs of the society people at the best level. On the very first day of placement, I was feeling very nervous and anxious as the surrounding of the organisation was very new to me. New job, new people and new surrounding made it difficult for me to adjust at my workplace as I was not well acquainted with the working culture and atmosphere at my placement. I was supposed to meet clients on the first day, and it was challenging for me to deal with them due to the unawareness in the working procedures as a social worker. The profession of a social worker is concerned with helping the individuals or groups, families and communities to enhance and upgrade their standard of living (Horejsi, Horejsi and Sheafor, 2010). I always wanted to serve something for the society, so I opted for the particular job profile as a social worker. On the first day, I met with a lady, who was a permanent resident of Australia and was coming from Burma. The lady was confused about the form filling procedure and was in need of some help to make it filled. The lady asked me to help her out in form filling, and I tried to help her out, but I was very nervous as I was filling the form for the first time. Although I helped the lady and made the categories of the form filled, but eventually it ended up with all the wrong information in the form.

Journal 2

Five weeks were passed at my placement as a social worker, and I had learned a lot of traits relative to serving for the society. With the passage of time, I was feeling comfortable and adjusted with the healthy and friendly culture at my workplace. It was a meeting with the supervisor after the passage of five weeks and my supervisor informed me that every week, I am supposed to submit him a weekly journal. I was unaware of such submission from past weeks, so my supervisor told me that I need to submit all the previous five weekly journals and have to concentrate on writing a journal every week from then. The moment I had a discussion with my supervisor I was very tensed and stressed about the submission relative to the last five weekly journals. My supervisor was cooperative and understanding and told me that it was misunderstanding which appeared in the past and helped me in developing the knowledge of writing the critical reflective journal. I decided that I will discuss my all assignments with my supervisor as I had gained a lot of confidence with the cooperation received from my supervisor. From such incident, I had learned some of the traits required for the social worker such as self-awareness, coordination and active listening abilities as I had developed very great coordination between my supervisor and myself by listening and understanding my supervisor’s views points (Trevithick, 2014). Post that incident, I had become a self-managed and time managed person and submitted my weekly journals on time.
