The patient empowerment requirement reciprocates with the patient load and warranted for mitigating the treatment difficulties experienced by the patient population (Kalra, Unnikrishnan, & Skovlund, 2012). The patient empowerment process advocates the requirement of administering equitable healthcare interventions to the patients of all age groups and partnering with them in the process of medical-decision making. The physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals must exhibit interest and confidence in patient's ability to undertake the activities of daily living and complying with the recommended medication interventions (Kalra, Unnikrishnan, & Skovlund, 2012). This process facilitates patient's self-management and education administration with the objective of enhancing his/her self-sufficiency and awareness regarding the healthcare requirement and corresponding medical interventions. The physicians and nurses require undertaking systematic efforts to enhance the wisdom, knowledge, capability, desire and awareness of patients in relation to their sick day management, self-adjusted medication dosage administration as well as self-monitoring (Kalra, Unnikrishnan, & Skovlund, 2012). Resultantly the patient acquires wellness outcomes in the shortest possible timeframe that evidentially assists in reducing the burden of diseases across the community environment. This research paper critically discusses the patient empowerment strategy and the associated leadership style, change-theory and stakeholder engagement warranted for bringing the desirable change in the healthcare practice. The application of the leadership style and primary healthcare approaches to facilitate the change strategy is necessarily required in the healthcare settings. An effective leadership pattern is necessarily warranted in the context of modifying the healthcare environment under the influence of an evidence-based change strategy for establishing a positive change in the healthcare outcomes. This research paper evidentially evaluates the influence of various external and internal factors associated with the change process and determinates the systematic steps requiring implementation for its successful establishment in the healthcare settings.

Patient mortality from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events is the greatest pressure that motivates healthcare professionals in terms of bringing desirable change (i.e. patient empowerment) in the healthcare sector (Rasjö, Törnkvist, Hasselström, Wändell, & Josefsson, 2015). The improved quality of life through patient empowerment effectively reduces the significant health risks of the patient population. The deteriorated pattern of professionalism, absence of professional development, organizational culture, reduced patient engagement, absence of therapeutic relationship, defected healthcare quality system, unsafe medical practices, revenue constraints and inappropriate hospital governance include some of the significant internal and external factors that require improvement with the consistent enhancement in the patient empowerment pattern in the healthcare settings. 

The stakeholders in the process of patient empowerment include the diversified healthcare taskforce responsible for undertaking comprehensive healthcare services in the clinical settings, local health departments, non-governmental organizations, community based centres, multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, universities, medical colleges and rehabilitation institutes (Chen, Mullins, Novak, & Thomas, 2016). These entities jointly share the responsibility of undertaking the change process while enhancing the rights and priorities of the treated patients in the healthcare settings. Their active engagement in healthcare management (including patient empowerment) process not only mitigates the health discrepancies, but also improves the quality of life of the treated patients while enhancing their wellness outcomes across the community environment.
